Interior minister announces latest plans to organize border carriers

TEHRAN, Dec. 17 (MNA) –Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli, Iran’s interior minister said on Sunday that the government has made important decisions to organize carriers on the border between Iran and Iraq, asking for the private sector’s help in that regard.

“The government has decided to ban smuggling completely despite its social and security consequences, and we have decided to open 15 border towns to help the carriers protect their dignity and save their own reputation,” the interior minister said in a meeting at Tehran Chamber of Commerce, industries, Mines and Agriculture, adding that “more than %85 of the goods that are brought in by carriers had been taken out of Iran and the carriers bring them back in the country.”

Rahmani Fazli said ”people who have lived in border villages for at least three years, recieve licenses so that they can import goods based on their needs.”

With regard to Haj Omran (Tamarchin ) border crossing, the interior minister said that it is up to the related provincial governor to decide.
